Data can be inputted by an Onscreen keyboard, a Stylus; via the Infrared, Serial or USB ports; and finally, by an external attachable Palm portable keyboard.

This model runs on a 33 MHz Motorola Dragonball VZ processor.

The PC system requirements are Windows 98, 2000, or Me; USB port; 30MB of hard disk space; CD-ROM drive.
The Mac system requirements are Apple Macintosh OS 8.5.1 or above, available USB port, 30MB of hard disk space, CD-ROM drive, 5MB available RAM.

This model is also available with a monochrome display and is known as Palm m500.
