Uilleann (pronounced ILL-uhn) pipes, is a sweet sounding, two full octave bag pipe, native to Ireland (used in the theme song for Xena, Princess Warrior).

The Uilleann pipes date back to the beginning of the 18th century.

Uilleann pipes can also be made chromatic with the addition of keys. In addition the Uilleann can play by staccato and legato. In addition, unlike traditional Scottish bag pipes, you do not need to blow into Uillean pipes; the Uilleann pipes have bellows to pump the bag up.
