A Reuters report on Wednesday July 26, 2000 announced that Chinese archeologists have discovered a "2,000-year-old toilet complete with running water, a stone seat and a comfortable armrest."

The "antique latrine" was discovered "in the tomb of a king of the Western Han Dynasty (206 BC to 24 AD)"..."in Shangqiu county in the central province of Henan".

The flush toilet had been believed to have been invented by an Englishman, Thomas Crapper, in the late 1800s.
