Term that has become popular in
Japan (as
bâkôdo hea) to describe
bald men who pull several
stray hairs over their bare
scalp in a pitiful
combover that does nothing to hide the fact that they need a serious dose of
Rogaine. It comes from the fact that, when people with black hair do it, the top of their head looks like an enormous
bar code.
Apparently, the term first came into use by political writers poking fun at former premier Nakasone Yasuhiro's head. Since then, it has entered the Japanese gairaigo vocabulary.
The comparison is much nicer than Dave Barry's, which likens the hairstyle to an egg being eaten by a giant spider...
