Railway system that connects points south of Osaka, Japan, to the city center at Namba. Its two lines are the Nankai Line, which runs from Namba to Wakayama and Kansai International Airport, and the Takano line (or "Rinkan Sun Line"), which runs from Namba to Kawachi Nagano, Hashimoto, and some isolated points in the mountains.

Most foreigners in Japan will identify Nankai by the dark blue "rapi:t" limited express train that serves Kansai Airport. The rapi:t's first class section is undoubtedly one of the poshest ways to get to and from the airport, although it charges a hefty premium over Nankai's generally low fare. (see my node Scamming the Japanese Rail Network for ways of getting around this)
