Belsize Park is situated in the Northern bit of London's borough of Camden
. It's just north of Camden Town
and Chalk Farm
, but just south of it's slightly posher neighbour Hampstead Village
The area was once a private park - or rather the oversized garden attached to a huge mansion that was demolished over a hundred years ago. The area was re-built in from the late 18th centuary onwards as a middle class estate.
These days, Belsize Park is still a middle-class estate. Many of the large houses have been sub-divided into smaller flats - despite this, Belsize remains one of London's most desirable resedential areas.
The Belsize Park's main road is called Haverstock Hill, althaugh the centre of Belsize Park is arguably Belsize Park Village, a tiny pedestrian area that joins Belsize Crescent to Belsize Park Gardens.
The easiest way to reach Belsize Park is by tube. Belsize Park Tube Sation is on the Edgeware Branch of the Northern Line. You can also get there from Swiss Cottage on the Jubilee Line
