Concept car unveiled by
Spanish automaker SEAT at the 2001
Frankfurt International Motor Show. The Tango is an open, roofless two-seater inspired by the
roadsters of the
50's and
60's.
Powered by a 1.8-liter, turbocharged (presumably) four-cylinder engine, the Tango produces a respectable 180 horsepower, put on the road with a six-speed manual gearbox -- enough for it to put a lower-level Z3 in its place. The Tango is equipped with loads of high-tech features, such as ABS, electronic stability control, and 1° rear wheel steering. A complex, tubular structure termed the "Safety Skeleton" runs along the chassis and provides added protection to the car's occupants in case of an accident (silly as it seems, since the car has no top, SEAT offers special helmets for protection).
It is, in this noder's opinion, one of the most beautiful cars ever dreamed up. Unfortunately, SEAT claims that they won't be producing this lovely car (though we've heard that one before -- let's hope they don't stick to their guns).
