According to, Waylon Jennings, a legendary country music artist, was born in 1937 in Littlefield, Texas. He grew up listening to country and blues. As a teenager, he became a DJ, after having already formed his own band. In 1955 he met Buddy Holly, who produced Jennings' first record. Interestingly, it was Waylon who gave up his seat to The Big Bopper on a plane which crashed, killing the Bopper, Holly, and Ritchie Valens.
