Ron Lantz is the truckdriver who spotted the sniper's Chevy Caprice at a truck stop in Frederick County, Maryland. Investigators received new information including a description of the car which was supposedly picked up by the media via a police scanner. The information was released to the public. About two hours later when Ron Lantz saw the Caprice with the New Jersey license plates he called 911 and then waited for the police to arrive.
Lantz claims he is no hero but many would think otherwise. He was alert and he got involved. Lantz, a truckdriver from Kentucky, said he was just doing what he felt he should have done. If eligible for the reward money Lantz said he would want it to go to the victim's families.
