The Jakarta Project (thing)

The Jakarta Project is the Java subdivision of the Apache Organisation. They are busy people and have come up with the following additional sub-projects:

• Ant (a platform-independent build tool, like make except it uses XML directives)
   
• Regexp (a library of classes for running Perl-like regular expressions generously donated to the project by Jonathan Locke)
   
• Slide (a content management API "that implements the web-based Distributed Authoring and Versioning (WebDAV) protocol" -- not sure what that means)
   
• Struts ("a small framework for web applications that implements the Model-View-Controller (MVC) design pattern for web application design commonly known as Model 2")
   
• Taglibs (a set of tag libraries for use with JSP pages)
