English author of short stories and novels. Quite spectacular, really; she's fond of taking common phrases and metaphors and running off with them.

Nudists May Be Encountered, Serpent's Tail, 1991 - A collection of short stories, none particularly long. Hit and miss, though generally very good.

Not In Newbury, Serpent's Tail, 1993 - One of the best novels I've ever read. A set of vignettes about a wordsmith, her relationships, and her struggles in writing a dictionary. And she means wordsmith in the sense of blacksmith; having to mine words from word ore, and sculpting words into word jewels.

Murder on Wheels, Allison Busby, 2000 - A murder mystery - haven't read it yet.
