Helder Pessoa Camara. A Brazilian priest and archbishop, who came to be identified with Liberation Theology; he was once a Nobel Peace Prize nominee. A frequent target of Brazil's military junta, and a survivor of assassination attempts. He was ousted as archbishop by John Paul II, but the two of them shared a passion for social justice. Died in August 1999.
