Peter Norvig is an expert on artificial intelligence, software engineering, and neuro-engineering.

Norvig received a B.S. in applied mathematics from Brown University, and a Ph.D. in computer science from Berkeley. He worked as Chief Scientist at Junglee, developing one of the first Internet comparison shopping services. He became the head of the Computational Sciences Division at NASA Ames Research Center, overseeing a staff of 200 scientists working on autonomy and robotics, automated software engineering and data analysis, neuro-engerineering, collaborative systems research, and simulation-based decision-making.

Currently, he works for Google Inc. as Director of Search Quality, and is a Fellow and Councilor of the American Association for Artificial Intelligence. He has published over 50 works on artificial intelligence, natural language processing, and software engineering. He has authored and co-authored several books:
