Hemlock Valley Resort is a relatively small ski resort in the Douglas-fir forests around 100km east of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. There is about 300 skiable acres, with 366 meters vertical drop, and they average about 450 centimeters of snow per year. There are three chairlifts and one handle tow for skiers and boarders, and a couple of terrain parks as well. There's also an extensive groomed cross country skiing trail network. Since they're normally open only Friday to Sunday, the hill does not get skied out as quickly as other Lower Mainland resorts do. It's also usually not as busy as other hills because it is east of Vancouver rather than being part of the North Shore mountains. Make sure you take chains with you for the drive, because the road can be VERY sketchy. Hemlock is a great place for beginner to intermediate boarders who want to avoid the crowds and have access to a nice variety of terrain.
