The AES in the Atari machines makes sure the windows, dialog boxes, menus, buttons and other similar stuff works in the interface.

oAESis is split up in two parts.

The oAESis server, which, similar to the X11 server, listens to a network port and tells oVDIsis what and how to draw graphics.
The library giving access to the graphical interface system calls, that in turn sends requests to the oAESis server.

oAESis is part of the OSIS project.
