Canadian ambient group, consisting of Mark Spybey and an ever-changing army of assistants. DVOA's sound is difficult to describe, the closest thing I can think of is early-to-mid Aphex Twin, only performed on analog instruments, with snippets of found sound mixed in. One of their albums has a Village Voice blurb on them, to the effect of "If most ambient is the laudanum of the new fin de siécle, then the Dead Voices on Air are the absinthe." Which I suppose describes them as well as anything.

The Dead Voices on Air are signed to Chicago's Invisible Records, and thus have worked collaboratively with such industrial music luminaries as Martin Atkins, Genesis P. Orridge, and former Skinny Puppy noise-smith cEvin Key.
