A pejorative term for New Jersey. It comes from two things:
- Its geographic position in the country. If New England and Long Island were an arm, (with Maine being a hand), and the rest of the Eastern Seaboard were the torso, New Jersey is the armpit.
- The smell. Yes, some parts of the state smell like an armpit, but so do parts of your state, so get off your high horse.
