President of France. Born in November 29, 1932. Has been a government official of one sort or another since he was 25. First became Prime Minister in 1962, then again in 1974.

The third time Chirac became prime minister, in 1986, was unprecedented in French history - Chirac is a member of the right-wing Republican Party (RPR), while the president at the time, Francois Mitterand, was a member of the left-wing Socialist Party. This situation, called the cohabitation, lasted two years.
