i can only remember one scene clearly. i was at a barbeque - summer, daytime, charcoal-smokey. i wandered over to the grill and saw they (chicanos?) were grilling hotdogs, many, many hotdogs. to the side were buns, toasting properly, and what turned out to be chiles, green chiles like poblanos, roasting. i took over, using tongs to turn dogs and rotate buns, easily falling into the rhythm of moving food about efficiently and nicely (i cook for a living). we took the chiles, split them lengthwise, removed the seeds, and then wrapped the roasted chile strips around each dog before bunning them. they were delicious - an interesting detail, since in my "real" time i never eat meat.
