The Animals were one of the best of the British Invasion after The Beatles hit America in 1964. The band consisted of:

Their rendition of The House of the Rising Son was an instant hit after it was released in 1964, and is probably the version of that oft covered traditional you're hearing in your head right now. Later hits include "I'm Crying," "We Gotta Get Out of This Place," and "It's My Life".

They broke up in 1966 with Burdon going on to a successful solo career. Chas Chandler was Jimi Hendrix's manager.
