BBC Brown Boveri AG, Baden

Swiss electrical engineering holding company founded in 1891 as Brown, Boveri & Cie., Baden. Named after their founders, Charles Eugen Lancelot Brown and Walter Boveri.

• 1900 Brown, Boveri & Cie. becomes BBC Brown Boveri AG; a German subsidary (Brown, Boveri & Cie. Aktienges.) is created in Mannheim
• 1901 BBC develop the cylindrical rotor for turbogenerators
• 1904/05 German competitor AEG acquires a majority in BBC stock
• 1910 BBC become Switzerland's biggest engineering enterprise
• 1915 AEG sell their stock again
• 1923 BBC develop the first turbocharger
