Canadian Politician, former Prime Minister (briefly) from 1 May 1896 - 8 July 1896.
Sir Charles Tupper was born on 2 July 1821 in Amherst, Nova Scotia. He was educated as a medical doctor, and was one of the fathers of confederation. After Sir Mackenzie Bowell resigned in 1896, Tupper was appointed as Prime Minister. Tupper tried to settle the rancorous Manitoba Schools Question, but was unsuccessful. When the Tory term expired, Tupper lost the election to Sir Wilfrid Laurier.
