Olaus Wormius (Ole Wurm) was a
Danish physician who
lived from 1588 to 1654. He published a work on the
literature
of nis native country, Runir; Danica Literatura Antiquissima, vulgo Gothica Dicta Luci Reddita (1636),
and also a book on the
Philosopher's stone, Liber Aureus Philosophorum (1625).
Wormius also have gotten some attention, as H. P. Lovecraft
in his piece History of the Necronomicon, credits him for the Latin translation of the Necronomicon,
and excellent example of Lovecraft's pseudo-documentary style.
However, Lovecraft claims that the translation was done in 1228,
which predates Wormius by several centuries.
