I use drawstring bags for wrapping Christmas presents. My ex-mother-in-law would buy Christmas fabric on sale after the holiday and sew drawstring bags. She gave us gifts in them. We still have them years later and use them every Christmas. She died in August 2021, at age 96. I think of her every time I reuse them.

This year I used her bags but also the drawstring bags that were kicking around the house. One from Washington State University and two from pairs of shoes that had included flannel travel bags in the shoe box. Not as Christmasy but still useful. Less cleanup as the bags are put in with the wrapping paper. My son and his fiance went to WSU so they kept the WSU bag, taking off the bow. I am planning on dusting off my sewing machine at home, so maybe I will start with some Christmas drawstring bags before I work on the project I have planned.

A very clever company might take this idea and make their silly bags out of holiday fabric. Let's see. Not President's Day. How about Valentine's Day? Or Mother's Day?
