The Open Group is located in Cambridge, Mass. It consists of the
Open Software Foundation, the
X Project Team, and
X/Open.
TOG is not "open" in the sense of
open source. Little of its software is free. TOG made
Linux run on top of&
Mach, making
MkLinux. But the organization is not really comfortable in the
open source world. If you want your software certified as in compliance with TOG
standards, you had better be a formal organization and you will pay big bucks.
