This is a guitar manufactured by the Gibson Musical Instrument company. It is a solidbody steel-string electro-accoustical guitar. This guitar features a Piezo transducer pickup system in the bridge with active bass and treble cut/boost controls. The guitar is powered by a 9V battery. The SST has been available in many styles over the years, including Ebony, Antique Natural, and Heritage Cherry Sunburst.

This guitar has been played by many artists throughout its introduction, including the Dave Matthews Band, Metallica, and Travis Tritt.

Gibson's foreign manufactured instrument line, Epiphone, also makes a version of this guitar. Also called the Chet Atkins SST, the Epiphone version features a mock sound hole on the face of the guitar. The Gibson version featured this sound hole until 1995, when the mock sound hole was abandoned.
