since 1992. Before the Falcons played at the Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium
for 26 years.
The name "Falcons" were suggested by many residents of Atlanta and its surroundings. Miss Julia Elliott of Griffin, Georgia
suggested that: "the Falcon is proud and dignified, with great courage and fight. It never drops its prey. It is deadly and has a great sporting tradition."
The franchise's only high point came in 1998 when the Falcons won the NFC Championship
, however the Falcons ended up losing Super Bowl XXXIII
to the Denver Broncos
