AAA farm team of the
Arizona Diamondbacks, in
Tucson, AZ. The
Sidewinders play their
home games in
Tuscon Electric Park. They compete in the
Southern Division of the
Pacific Coast League.
Originally the famous San Francisco Seals, the team was moved to Phoenix, AZ and renamed the Firebirds when the Giants arrived in San Francisco in 1958. They played in Phoenix for two short years before being moved to Tacoma, WA and becoming the Tacoma Giants. After six years in Tacoma, they moved back to Phoenix, where they played from 1966 to 1997. In 1997 the team was renamed and moved to Tucson make room for the Arizona Diamondbacks. They have been a Diamondbacks franchise since then.
