The sole New Zealander who has ever been awarded a Grammy. He was awarded the Grammy award for best instrumental arrangement for accompanying vocalists in 1996 for his arrangement of When I Fall in Love with David Foster performed by Natalie Cole and again in 1999 for Lonely Town performed by Charlie Haden Quartet West featuring Shirley Horn.

Born April 23 1947 in Auckland, New Zealand, Alan Broadbent like many New Zealand based and expatriate musicians he is more well-known overseas than he is in his own country. He is now a Jazz pianist based in the US.
