Introduced by
Heckler & Koch in 1970, the
Volks Pistole 70 (
people's pistol) is actually the first
polymer framed pistol.
Glock made polymer popular but
H&K made it first.
The VP70 came in two versions, the VP70Z, (Z stands for "Zivilversion" or "Civilian Version") and the VP70M (M stands for "Militär" or "Military Version"). The vital difference is that the VP70M accepts a buttstock that, along with a burst fire mechanism, transforms this pistol into a shoulder fired machine gun.
The VP70 was mainly designed to fire the 9mmx19 NATO cartridge but also was produced in 9mmx21 albeit in only limited amounts.
This highly collectible firearm has been out of production since 1989. If you are lucky enough to be able to get your hands on one it would be a very good investment to purchase it.
