A branch of postmodern thought which concerns itself with destabilising the dichotomies of gender and sexuality. Refusing the primacy of identification politics and instead recognising the fluidity of sexual identity and object choice as a liberating tactic. Major players include Judith Butler and Eve Kosovsy Sedgewick. The field bases itself generally on Michel Foucault and his work on sexuality realised mostly in his History of Sexuality vols. 1 to 3.
