Born Dave Szabo, guitar player and co-principal songwriter, along with bassist Rachel Bolan, for the hard rock band Skid Row. He takes slightly fewer leads than does his co-guitarist, Scotti Hill, but plays many of the most memorable riffs from the band's oeuvre, including the opening riffs to "18 and Life," "I Remember You," "Monkey Business," and "Quicksand Jesus." His leads are marked by somewhat greater technicality than Scotti Hill's, including tremolo picking, sweep picking, arpeggios, harmonic minor and chromatic runs. However, these are merely demarcations relative to the other guitar work in the band. The main bulk of Sabo's playing comes from a blues and rock context very similar to Hill's.

Sabo was a childhood friend of Jon Bon Jovi, as well as the original lead guitarist in Bon Jovi. The two grew up together in Sayreville, New Jersey. It is generally understood that Sabo's totemic nickname was given in reference to his genitalia.
