Before joining the Rand Corporation in 1959, Baran worked as an electrical engineer for the Hughes aircraft companies systems division.
On Distributed Communications is possibly the first broad vision of a robust, distributed, packet-switched data network, and thus Baran should rightly be considered one of the fathers of the internet.
