WOBO (WOrld BOttle) was a design for mass-produced bottles which had a secondary use as a building product. The idea was conceived by Albert Heineken of the Heineken beer family. The beer bottles were designed so that once they were to be thrown away, they could instead be used as bricks for building structures (such as houses). They only tried it so far as to built a small shed and double garage on the Heineken estate in Amsterdam, but the idea was sophisticated and an intelligent design solution to an environmental issue.
