HAM6 is an Amiga graphics mode that is probably the first to be capabable of displaying photorealistic images on a personal computer. It is an acronym for "Hold And Modify", which is effectively a method of hardware compression which gets 4096 colors out of the native Amiga's 6-bit graphics capabilities. It could only be displayed in "Lo Res" modes on OCS chipsets. It was expanded to HAM8 in the AGA Amigas.
