The Onondaga Nation is one of the "Older Brothers" of the Iroquois Confederacy. The Onondaga are known as "The People of the Hills" which makes a lot of sense if you have ever been to the area of upstate New York that they are from. Onondoga Nation territory is located near Syracuse New York. The Onondaga are the Firekeepers for the Iroquois Nations, if you drive through Onondaga Nation territory on I-81 you can see the flame. The Onondaga were also refered to as the "Name Bearers" and were the keepers of the wampum belt that contained the history of the Iroquois.
