A five-piece folk band from Utah, Peter Breinholt and the Big Parade was formed in 1993 while the three original members, Peter (guitar/vocals), Mike Ensign (bass), and Rex Griffiths, were attending the University of Utah. Songs About the Great Divide, their first album, was recorded shortly thereafter. In the next two years, Griffiths left, but three more members were picked up: David Tolk (piano/keyboard), Ryan Shupe (fiddle/guitar/mandolin), and Rory Carrera (percussion). They have since released four more albums (Heartland, 1996, Deep Summer, 1999, Live, 2001, and Noel, 2002), made the score for the independent film “We Didn’t,” and preformed at numerous venues, including the Sundance Amphitheater.
