Dr. Milo Aukerman is a biochemical scientist and is also the singer in The Descendents, arguably the greatest and most influential punk band of all time. He grew up in Palos Verdes, California, where in high school he met Bill Stevenson. Both social outcasts, they started the Descendents and the band quickly became popular doing local shows. After Milo graduated, he went to the University of California in San Diego. This is when they made Milo Goes To College.

Milo then went to University of Wisconsin. He received his doctoral degree and then began research on a complicated plant arabidopsis gene called Luminidependens. Milo had a lot of trouble and became very frustrated and depressed. In 1996 Milo began writing songs again, such as "We" which he wrote for his wife on Valentine's Day. He then returned to California where the Descendents recorded Everything Sucks.

He still works in a laboratory, and manages to continue working with the Descendents. A cartoon picture of his face is on most of the Descendents albums, wearing glasses.
