A Scottish author now living in
Brixton, he mostly writes stories about the
young underclass of
modern British life:
travellers,
hippies, the
unemployed and
dispossessed, but he does so with a wonderful
sense of humour, a fine hand for
characterisation and a sympathetic eye. His
style of writing is somewhat unique but very easy to read and he's one of my favourite living authors. I've even had emails from him!

There's also a graphic novel about Lux, the title character from his first book, entitled Lux & Alby Sign On and Save the Universe. If I remember rightly much of this was published on the internet as well.
He also wrote the novelisation of the film "Tank Girl" which he qualifies with: "Terrible book. I needed the money. It's a hard life being an author. This is out of print now."
