The Camera d'Or, or
Golden Camera, is the
award given at the
Cannes Film Festival for best
feature film shown at the festival by a first-time
director, whether
in competiton or not. The award has been given since
1978. Less than half of these
movies are available in the
United States on
video or
DVD.
