An ancient
Egyptian god - or rather, a manifestation of the
sun god, also commonly known as
Re.
This particularly variant of Re appeared almost exclusively as a scarab beetle, and more rarely in human form, with a scarab beetle for a head. He appears in the Egyptian funerary texts Books of the Netherworld, and his likeness appears exclusively in the tombs and funerary literature, without an independent cult.
