The USS Phoenix (CL-46) was a Brooklyn-class light cruiser launched in 1938. The Phoenix survived the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor and served throughout the Pacific War, including the Battle of Leyte Gulf, suffering only one casualty to enemy action.

The Phoenix was decommissioned in 1946 and sold to the Argentine Navy in 1951. Renamed the ARA General Belgrano (C-4), she was sunk by the British nuclear submarine, HMS Conqueror, on the 2nd of May, 1982.

In its most recent incarnation, the USS Phoenix (SSN-702) was a Los Angeles-class fast attack submarine which began service in 1981 and was decommissioned in 1998.
