(an alternate take on this)
we made it to the carnival
Wednesday, finally, we were late
where should we begin?
blanketing silence and reverence inside
a starburst cloud pallet eveningland sunset
I think I am closer to forever than ever
your eyes keep low, distracted
we are snared in lights, in laughter
wanderlust all in our own quietude
filled with music and excitable children,
smells and twinklings brushing shoulders, elbows
a constant motion, constant empty
comfortable like cold copper.
Aimless -- I am watching the moon
rise for the very first time, the stars
make preparatory advances
one by burning one and I can see
the stillness and the peace enclosed
like a quiet light circus between us
for the very first time.
Maybe next time we can hold hands or something.
