Born Winston Hubert McIntosh19th October, 1944 In Grange Hill in the parish of Westmoreland, Jamaica. Died, shot in his home on 11 September , 1987.
During the period between these two dates, Peter Tosh was some time colleague of Bob Marley, rastafarian and advocator of ganja smoking. On one occasion when the police broke into his house, he sat there smoking a spliff; the police asked him if he was smoking ganja, he responded "Ganja is a bird in Australia. How can I smoke a bird?". He was immediately arrested.
