Film director, born in 1946 in France. Started in films as assistant director and then directed his first short, Le Chien de Monsieur Marcel, which won first prize at Trouville. Followed this up with his first feature, Diva, which received international acclaim. Betty Blue, his most well-known film, received an Oscar nomination and was responsible for a million posters of Béatrice Dalle, its star.

worker whose sister has been raped, and who kills herself.
He becomes obsessed with finding her attacker. Also stars

strange story of a writer and his mad, doomed girlfriend,
starring Jean-Hugues Anglade and Béatrice Dalle.
- Roselyne et les lions (1989) - Tale of a
blonde teenage lion-tamer and her boyfriend, who join a
circus. Starring Isabelle Pasco.
