Zombies already brainwashed the entire town. Fortunately for me, I already had my apocalypse team with me.
Years of critical thinking training made them formidable foes against any individual zombies, although they still had trouble when going up against zombies in larger groups. That's when the rest of us were needed to swoop in for the rescue.
We knew the zombies would be after us soon though. They could smell us, and tell we did not think like they do. We did not have their traditions, their rituals, their reactions, and by that, they could tell we did not share their beliefs.
And so they would come for our brains.
It was in their nature to come after us. Otherwise they would not have spread so fast.
We would have to ready our weapons at the first sign of danger. Though we lacked in number, we did not lack in creativity.
