Formerly the
bass player in
Spandau Ballet, Martin Kemp is best known by the UK public for his role in the
soap opera EastEnders, where he played
Steve Owen. Kemp made the transition into acting with a lead role in the movie
The Krays, playing opposite his real-life brother
Gary. In 1995, Kemp discovered that he had a
brain tumour (which at its peak weighed more than two kilos). After three years of operations and therapy, he made a full recovery. Martin Kemp also, bizarrely, was born with three
kidneys, while his brother only has one- but they're not
twins!
