Most people's
conception of polygon is actually the class of polygons called simple polygons. A simple
polygon is one whose
sides do not
intersect each other. Thus, it is only possible to talk about "inside" or "outside" a polygon if it is simple. A
convex polygon is an example of a simple polygon.
