Maryknoll is what the Catholic Foreign Mission Society of America is commonly known as. Maryknoll is a family of Missioners, including the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers, and the Maryknoll Sisters.

Based in New York, Maryknoll was founded in 1911 by Frs. Thomas Frederick Price and James Anthony Walsh, with the approval of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, and Pope Pius X. Maryknoll sent their first mission to China in 1918.

Since then, Maryknoll has established missions all over the world, but primarily in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Maryknollers are involved in a variety of services, including working with refugees, orphans, and people with AIDS. The Maryknoll Sisters also work with minory groups, especially immigrants, in the United States.

Maryknoll has a website (from which most of the material here is taken) at http://www.maryknoll.org
