Public Relations is a branch of Corporate America that handles the dissemination of news and information about companies and their products to the public, usually through the use of press releases to major news organizations. Public Relations is the business of image enhancement. Many large companies have their own Public Relations (PR) divisions, but most small to mid-size companies outsource this work to a Public Relations firm. All of the press releases one sees in the news are created and sent out by PR people. Unlike standard news sources, it is a PR person's job to strengthen a company's image and therefore they do not always cover every side of an issue.
